OUR DESIGN CONCEPT

In formulating the designs and colour schemes for the The Mira Hong Kong, Charles Allem also drew upon his inspiration from Hong Kong’s exotic natural environment and historical, colonial architecture. The Emerald and Platinum colour schemes provide striking colour palettes that harmonise with the colours and moods of the region. In addition, his unparalleled contemporary designs alert guests that this is definitely The Mira Hong Kong.

OUR DAILY EFFORTS THAT MAKE THE WORLD AROUND US A BETTER PLACE

Energy saving and wise use of resources are our daily bread. Among a number of green efforts which make up the pillars of sustainable practices promoted among our Hotel Team, Hotel Guests, and business partners is the way we approach food. We have teamed up with Food Made Good which empowers us with holistic assessment and advice on best practices to help us operate our restaurants more sustainably.

We are proud to have received a 3 Star Food Made Good Sustainability Award 2023 – 2025 which is a testament to our continuous efforts.

Built on a 10-point framework that allows for a complete 360-degree assessment of whole operations, Food Made Good evaluates impact across the 3 pillars of Sourcing, Society and Environment. Thus the Sustainable Restaurant Association works to accelerate change towards a global hospitality sector that is socially progressive and environmentally restorative, through the only worldwide sustainability certification tailored for the sector: the Food Made Good Standard.

What this means is that in search for the best alternatives of most desired ingredients we are proud to put on your plates, we strive to source more produce locally and sustainably, to cut down on our carbon footprint and reduce negative impact on the environment. For that reason, we proudly joined HKSSC World Oceans Day in 2022 serving sustainable seafood menus at WHISK and Cuisine Cuisine and we continue to feature sustainable seafood on our seasonal menus.

We also pay attention to animal welfare and your well-being when selecting our suppliers. Thus we have introduced dishes prepared with cage-free eggs at Yamm, COCO and In-room Dining, whilst Mira Hotel Collection has committed to using 100% cage-free eggs entirely by 2025.

SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITY AND THOSE IN NEED

The Mira Hong Kong joins hands with r é n in support of their Youth Programme with donations to Hong Kong Student Aid Society, which works towards improvement of living of vulnerable teens.

We are proud to be the collaborating partner of this new social enterprise launched in Feb 2023 with a mission of bringing People together to do good for the Community by blending human Kindness and passion for Food to raise awareness and funds for local charities.

Our Culinary Director, Chef Sheldon Fonseca, who personally crafts each batch of COCO’s jams & spreads, is one of the Chef Advocates of r é n.

On top of the proceeds from sales of COCO’s handcrafted jams & spreads other initiatives to support youth under HKSAS include activations of People promoting equality and inclusion in the society:

– The Mira Hong Kong has committed to inviting students to a summer internship program in 2023
– The Mira Hong Kong will host a Cookie & Jam making class for a group of students of HKSAS in April 2023

As of September 2018, we are proudly an ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management certified hotel by BSI under certificate number EMS 589566!

The ISO 14001:2015 is an enhanced standard developed by International Standard Organization (ISO) which enables our hotel to identify and control the environmental impact of hotel activities, products or services, as well as continually improve our environmental performance, be it by energy-saving initiatives, proper waste management, and offsite green projects which offset our overall carbon footprint.

WE FOLLOW HACCP FOOD SAFETY SYSTEM

Complying with highest international industry standards, The Mira Hong Kong successfully implemented stringent food safety system HACCP in 2013 and has been following its guidelines ever since.

Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), being a detailed system of food safety analysis and monitoring, it is being broken down in various parts to make it reliable from the moment food arrives hotel premises, until it is being served as a ready to consume product. It involves various departments, including procurement, receiving, kitchen, and F&B service.

We strive to maintain the strict levels of safety and assure that newly joined Team Members receive proper training to meet the highest industry standards that The Mira Hong Kong pursues to represent on every level of operations.
